17th Anniversary

SEVA Free and Confidential Counseling Centre celebrated its seventeenth anniversary in a grand manner at Kamakoti Kalyana Mandapam at Padmaraonagar on Sunday 24th October in the evening between 6 PM and 9 PM.

The Chief Guest for the function Dr. Jayanthi Narayan Ph.D was a former Dy. Director of National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped, Secunderabad. The special event of the occasion was the honoring of SEVA's founder Smt. Sharada Gopalakrishnan and acknowledging the continued service by the long serviced volunteers. A very good turn out of invitees showed the patronage the organization has been receiving.

In the welcome address, Smt. Havovi Patel reminisced the sequence of things that happened during the past year : A very successful training program bringing in 35 new new volunteers, presentations at colleges and corporate houses as part of outreach, TV and print media coverage, on September 12 a panel discussion with an eminent panel of professionals of great standing on Teenage Suicide at Sunshine Hospital, Paradise, Secunderabad, and on October 1 and 2 Karmayog Seva Mela was conducted under the banner of Joy of Giving Week and SEVA had put up a stall there and used it as a platform for spreading awareness and also fund raising.

The founder Smt. Sharada Gopalakrishnan was emotionally recounting the sequence of things that happened during the days of founding the organization, Shri KL Manohar's philanthropy of offering the place to operate from which is continuing to be the main office of SEVA, the initial difficulties and odds and the commitment she received from the early set of colleagues like Smt Havovi and Shri Khanna.

The Chief Guest Dr. Jayanthi Narayan who is currently a Special Education Consultant emphasized the need for counseling in the current days of stress prone fast paced life. She brought out examples of parents with children with learning difficulties and other family members needing counseling particularly in the light of difficulties faced by them.

Jaywant Naidu's Guitar rendition made the evening entertaining and soulful. The celebrations ended with a vote of thanks by Shri Thiagarajan followed by Dinner.
